November 2009 NEWSLETTER

The other day I was reading a highly publicized Woodlands magazine and as I flipped through the pages I noticed that everyone has something to sell…from gym memberships to home decorations to plastic surgery. I began to think upon what we sell. Our goal has always been to provide great food and service. However, we realize that is not enough. We truly want to offer you something that you don’t find at other restaurants: an atmosphere where family, friends and neighbors gather to celebrate life. So whether you are celebrating a football game win, a successful potty training moment or praise for healing and answered prayers...we are here to serve you.

Closed Thanksgiving

We will be closed on Thursday, November 26th to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families. Join us Friday morning for breakfast after your shopping adventures!

Note from Sharon Harlan
Otherwise known as “Pie Lady” at Eden Cafe. I am a wife, mother and Ohio State Buckeye. I was raised in a proud German family in Ohio. Our meals were always home cooked and ended with dessert. The desserts were usually some kind of fruit pie, apple, peach, rhubarb, blackberry, cherry, blueberry, or strawberry. The pies usually changed with the seasons and the availability of certain fruits. The fall was always apple, pumpkin, mincemeat, or pecan. I was raised with a meat, potato, vegetable and dessert everyday. I have cooked this way for my own husband, Dick, since we were married 37 years ago and our two grown children.

One pie I had never made before moving to Texas was buttermilk pie. I had to go back into my old cookbooks to find the recipe and then give it my own special touch. It has become very popular and my friends, neighbors and customers want me to make them all the time. My philosophy is that after eating great food you always need something sweet to help the food to settle right.

I really enjoy working with the staff at Eden Café and especially with Ulises and Maria. They are like one big, happy family. If you ever need a pie for any occasion, please let Ulises or Maria know and I would be happy to make it for you.

Thank you for enjoying my pies and Happy Thanksgiving,
Sharon Harlan
